The Otakon Post.

Yeah, I promised more pictures. Those'll have to be up when I get back.

But for now...the obligatory Ota-post. So obviously, yes, I'm going. I should be in the BCC area before 1 PM, staying at the Radisson.

Now. Costumes:

Thursday/pre-reg: Makoto Kino (school uniform, Sailor Moon)

Friday:

(morning/early afternoon) Super Sailor Jupiter
(late afternoon/evening) Fuu (Samurai Champloo)

Saturday: Integral (manga suit, Hellsing)

Sunday: Misato (Evangelion)

I think that's it, thank goodness. I'm not worried about the Mako and Fuu outfits, to be honest. Mako was almost done as a favor to me, and Fuu...I was excited about it when it began, and it was finished I just...I don't know. Wasn't as into it. I'll bring it and all, but I doubt I'll finish the hairsticks or the charms all over the tanto. The tanto is painted and the designs are painted on, however. Just don't have the charms. Might be persuaded to make tassels, though.

Misato has been worn three times, each time without a hitch. Not worried. Wig is ugly, but eh. Sunday costume.

Sailor Jupiter. Goodness. The things I worry about at Otakon with this costume are pretty much skirt length and um...fit. This'll be the costume that'll be mocked on forums, I'm sure, but I wanted to do a Sailor fuku before I have no more funds to do one. And plus...the boots. The boots are rather wicked. At least I have short-shorts to wear under the skirt but still...not the most comfortable outfit.

And finally...Integral. After Ota, I want to redo the damned suit. This one's good for the warm weather as it isn't lined, but moving to Chicago and all..well...lining is good. The jacket and tie both aren't as long as I'd like, either, but they'll do for now. It's not like I'm competing in any way, shape, or form. I suppose my favorite parts of this are the glasses and wig (which needs to be CUT. x.x; ). The glasses nearly look antique, but they're at least somewhat round, and large enough, frame-wise.

They also look goofy. :D

And as a Godiva wig is the only wig with the length that could achieve the manga style...platinum blonde godiva wig it is. I tried it on last night to separate the front portions that I want to trim up, and I think it'll actually help the costume rather then hurt it. I have a mid to lower back blonde wig in perhaps one shade darker, but I just don't think that'll work for the manga look. However, I do think a wide toothed comb and a wig brush will be my best friends for all of Saturday. Have to make sure I don't sit on it, too. x.x;

I think this is the first Otakon where I haven't really wanted to do anything. Granted, I'm signed up for LARP...but that's about it. After looking at the schedule, I might drop by the Sailor Moon panel and the masquerade...but honestly, that's about it. I hope I don't spend the entire con being bored. I have roommates and all this time around, but they're probably going to go off and do their own thing. I'm still disappointed with Otakon, special guest-wise, but I'll deal.

Still have nothing to do on Thursday night after pre-reg. Should probably figure out where to eat, though.

PS- I'm rather glad that I'm saying no to Cowboy Bebop stuff this year. The Julia catsuit is just too hot and too painful to both wear and get on. I'll just save it for Reactor and ACen and people will just have to deal. Feels good to say no.
